Appearance: Khetya stands relatively tall for a Xaela woman. Her eyes are striking gold and lit with luminous limbal rings. She keeps her hair long and loose when at rest, and bound up when active. She is proud of the natural luster of her black hair. Khetya has a soft physique, with a body shape rather average for her kind. Years of traveling on her own two feet have given her a pair of strong legs to stand upon. Khetya enjoys a varied gallery of fashions, preferring comfort and looks over practicality. She has developed a love for flowing and elegant attire and is not shy to show her skin, albeit the woman isn't one to entirely ignore dressing for the elements. It's just as common to find her garbed with a long coat or a fitting dress as it is dressed down.
Traits & Personality: Khetya is a fiercely loyal and focused individual, keen to maintain those precious few close friendships she has developed. A trait most likely brought about by her persistent struggles with social cues & social settings. She can often come off as (for lack of a better term) a little freak—prone to speaking her mind, stuffing her nose into business it doesn't rightly belong, and pursuing her fascinations to a fault. Khetya's single-minded dedication veers her towards a more selfish, nay, self-centered focus directed wherever her interests may lie—often to the chagrin of others. Perhaps in part because of this, Khetya is a deeply anxious and nervous person, albeit the she rarely lets her mask slip.In spite of these traits, Khetya is quite outgoing. She is more often than not willing to try new things beyond the reaches of her comfort zone. A scientifically minded woman, Khetya tends towards questioning the reasons why things occur, and taking little at face value as fact. Likewise, she is not a particularly religious nor superstitious individual, although she has been known to keep a household shrine to an ancestral kami. Khetya's fascinations with pushing the envelope of research & discovery lands her firmly in the realm of willingness to bend personal & contemporary ethical practice.
Khetya was born into this world in the distant lands of the Far East, in the realm of Doma. Hers was a family which long ago won its place within high society. As such, her father had managed to land an appointment to an office within the civil administration services, serving within the bureaucratic arm of the state. Khetya's early life was one of relative peace and idle ignorance.Khetya was a child no older than her seventh season when the first Garlean invasion of Doma began. Even at a young age and blind to the insights of the world, the young Khetya could feel the tangible aura of dread that overcame the realm. And with it, the looming shade of unavoidable change. Honor and pride in one's nation be damned, Khetya's father had decided to abandon Doma before the Garleans could claim the capital. Her mother would later remark on how great a fuss the young Khetya gave when they escaped unto the Ruby Sea some days later. The young girl was incapable of accepting or understanding just what had occurred. The family had relocated to Kugane. What was intended to be a brief stay had developed into several unfortunate complications, resulting in a year-long overlay. During this time, Khetya grew into a shy little one who rarely engaged with kids her age. The young girl had turned towards nagging her elders for fanciful tall tales and fantastical stories. Unfortunately for the family, her father's struggles with securing legal passage to distant Eorzea were met with increasingly expensive financial dues. And by the end of their first year in Kugane, the wealth they had managed to secure from their holdings in Doma had all but been a shadow of its former glory. Until one day a stroke of fortune graced the refugees. Not long after they had booked a voyage and the family secured passage to the distant ports of Thanalan! What they found was beyond any expectations and shattered all illusions of a return to a simpler time ahead. The newly arrived refugees arrived at the Silver Bazaar and found the native Ul'dahns indifferent and cold. Day after day, Khetya's father parlayed with Ul'dahn officials. Time and again he was met with frustrations and fees. It didn't take long for the family to find itself indebted through bribery and dishonorable practices—all in the pursuit of a dream at a return to normality. All of this occurred when Khetya was beginning to grow into a young woman. The girl's shy and outwardly passive demeanor had seen to it that she was often overlooked. From those tender days as a young refugee fleeing her country; to the new horizons of an uncertain future—Khetya was sensitive to it all. Rather than sink into a reclusive shell, she developed into an increasingly curious sponge of a young woman.
The family had secured a tentative place for itself within Ul'dahn society—but never fully lost its pride, nor its sense of honor. In this time, Khetya began to blossom into a woman. Her father had even managed to build a new business—a trading company—and began buying and selling goods across Eorzea. Her mother had chosen to stay in the family's newly acquired home within Ul'dah during her father's business ventures.Khetya was a teenager when she first defied her parent's wishes. A spark of ambition had ignited itself within her heart, and she had snuck onto her father's caravan under the watchful eyes of his hired guards. The girl went three days without being discovered! She was in rare form when she was openly proud of herself for the feat of managing to feed herself off the caravan's stores. Unfortunately for her father, it had forced him to either throw the venture and risk a job he couldn't afford to lose or return Khetya to her mother. The former won out! That trip had proved to be the point at which Khetya's life began to change for the better. Sure her father was angry with her, but he quickly realized his only child was taking an interest in his work. Khetya was amazed when he began to show her how to read the ledgers. And left dumbfounded when her father allowed her to be present at the trade deal. It marks the beginning of her newfound passion: the thrill of learning. A matter that her father had mistakenly taken for a sole interest in the family business. The years progressed with Khetya taking an active role in the caravan. She had been placed in charge of managing inventory and keeping the books clean, a task few others were eager to perform and one her hawkish eye was uniquely tailored towards.
Khetya was in her early twenties when she and her father visited the Sharlayan colony on the distant coasts of Dravania. The Sharlayans had opened their academies to Eorzeans for the first time in recorded history, offering a rare and unique chance to study within those vaunted halls. And as fate would have it, Khetya was in the right place at the right time.A professor of aetherology was holding a demonstration for his class on public grounds when posing a difficult question to his students. Khetya, willful in the face of her interests, dared to interrupt the lessons by marching into the gardens and shouting out the answers. She was wrong, of course, but she still knew what she was talking about. It was enough to impress herself upon the professor. She'd later give thanks to the man who would become her patron, and with his sponsorship, she was invited to study at the Sharlayan colony.Bittersweet as their farewells were, Khetya and her father remained on amicable terms. The love between their familiar bonds was a strong and fierce thing that remains to this day. So it was that Khetya began her studies into the arcane and sciences of the world. She had enjoyed a rich education beneath the halls of Sharlayan, with her major focuses lying in the fields of aetherology, mathematics, and histories of the Calamities and ancient civilizations.Alas, all good things must come to an end, and well before the girl could hope to earn her Archon mark, the onset of the Garlean invasion of Eorzea lie upon the horizon. The decision to abandon the colony came as a sudden shock for many of the Sharlayan nationals. Though none were as at risk as the Eorzean students who attended the schools. Khetya was left in another sudden state of disarray, throwing her now carefully planned-out future in turmoil and casting her down a long path toward self-discovery.
The invasion brought calamitous change, and with it, Eorzea had been left scathed by the Seventh Umbral Calamity. Khetya had abandoned the once idealistic beauty of the Sharlayan colony on a quest to find herself. From Limsa Lominsa to Ul'dah, and beyond did she travel in search of patronage and intellectual pursuits. Alas, time and time again she found herself wanting the former education she was sorely denied. A fact that would leave her with an embittered disposition towards Sharlayan institutions for years to come.Still, the Xaelic woman found herself competent enough with a basic understanding of sorcery and spellcraft. She took it upon herself to enjoy brief tenures with the Arcanist Guild of Limsa Lominsa and even the Thaumaturge's Guild of Ul'dah, creating bonds which persist in her later life, albeit never quite fully committing to either. The years that followed saw her dabbling in the realms of alchemy and other intellectual pursuits. Armed with the basics of an academic, Khetya kept her own journals and penned her own papers for peer review. She had made a small name for herself as a scholar of aetherology and sorcerous phenomena, with her pursuits tailoring towards creating a unified theory of a myriad of scientific schools. Despite the great lengths she went through, to this day she has still failed to publish anything of substance.Approximately six years ago to current, Khetya discovered a soul stone once belonging to a Black Mage of Mhach buried in ruins within what was once the great civilization of Amdapor. To her surprise, the soul stone had chosen her as its bearer, imbuing the budding scholar with the powers of a Black Mage. She was eager to suppress her newfound knowledge, and from that day forth began to enter a new world of discovery into the shadowy underworld of the taboo and esoteric realms of study.Armed with her soul stone and the magicks of old, Khetya began her search in earnest into what was commonly referred to as the occult. During this time she had learned (usually by error) how to navigate many pitfalls and dangers of those shadowed paths. Likewise, she forged newfound friends and contacts alike. Ever did her dreams turn towards her academic passions, and still she'd pursue them for years to come.Khetya's journeys have led her as far as Thavnair, where she battles for the privilege to study beneath the famed alchemists of that jeweled realm. To the bitterly cold peaks of Ishgard, where she has most recently moved to a more semi-permanent location in the recently constructed Empyreum. Here Khetya's story continues, with her employment at a rare book & artifact dealership by the name of The Athenaeum. She continues her pursuits into the arcane and scientific; with her most recent focus settling firmly in the realm of the Sharlayan arts of the Sage.
A Thousand and One Ul'dahn Nights: From the urban sprawl of Ul'dah to the furthest Amalj'aa village; Khetya spent the better half of her life within the Sultanate. She may not always talk about it, but she considers Ul'dah home. One might recognize her by her father's successful trade company—Bir Trade & Imports—having worked the caravans for several years. Khetya still frequents Ul'dah, and may be occasionally spotted in outings beside the parasol-shrouded figure of her mother.
Researcher For Hire: For as robust a life, and as diverse a skill-set as she claims to have, Khetya still needs to eat & pay her bills. She is currently employed with The Athenaeum—a shop dealing in rare books & antique items. If one is ever in need of hiring The Athenaeum's dedicated and thorough researcher, they need only journey to Ishgard and seek out the storefront. She will even offer appraisal services!
Aetherology & Academia: Khetya has a traveled history across various academic fields. Her primary focus remains centered in Aetherological Studies & Application. While her knowledge extends to practical fields—her forte within this field remains in the realm of theoretical sciences. She is always interested in pursuing almost anything pertaining to the sciences!
Aether Sensitive: Khetya possesses a preternatural sensitivity to the flow of aether. This is an affinity granted to her by way of the Black Mage's soul stone in her possession. While her own aether appears rather typical; she has a tendency to let her gaze drift over objects & individuals whom possess unusual aether. Fellow Black Mages are welcome to recognize her at a glance, with the expectation she too will likely recognize you for what you are. Due to the dubious legal status of black magic—Khetya has a tendency to confront Black Mages in her vicinity—that is, if they don't confront her first!
Sorceress: Khetya is a sorceress through and through. Ever since recovering her fateful soul stone, the Xaela has increasingly immersed in a new & strange world. The uncertain legal status of her ply aside, Khetya is ever pushing the boundaries of sorcery & science. She holds the belief that mysticism is but one in the same as academic science, and to that end, often blurs the lines between the two—eager to reconcile the unknown with the known. Khetya is always searching for relics, texts, and anything else which holds sorcerous or magical relevance. And likewise, magically or academically inclined individuals to collaborate with.
Annoying Interloper: Often seen in locales better suited towards anyone but her; Khetya has a dreadful habit of poking her nose where it doesn't belong. Whether it be an underground & shady market, or a gathering of high-class socialites, one can expect to find Khetya snooping around. At least, at face value this appears to be the case! At best, she merely observes & goes on with her merry life. At worst, she's looming around on personal business.
Stolen State Secrets?: The Final Days have come and gone. With the flight of the Ragnarok above the skies of Eorzea and beyond leaving the world to reckon with Sharlayan's role in the mystery of the averted catastrophe—A certain outspoken Xaela once associated with the former Sharlayan colony has been asking one too many questions. And rumor has it that the pesky agitator has proven a resourceful snake—leading officials through hushed channels to place an "inquiry" into this Khetya Mirh to determine whether or not she has managed to acquire unsanctioned and highly confidential state secrets. This is an open invitation to any Sharlayan or Sharlayan-adjacent characters to poke at Khetya over this!
Hi! I'm Khet! I'm 33 years old, my pronouns are she/her, and I have been roleplaying across various platforms & mediums for over half of my life (help, I'm a dork). I'm LGBTQ+ as fuck so if you don't jive with that, get outta here! I am married IRL and not looking for any OOC intimacy or IC // OOC blending. I would love the opportunity to write more often in the hit MMO FFXIV!Data Server/Home World: Crystal / Mateus
Timezone: EST - GMT-5Bluesky: @wizardlizzer.bsky.socialContact Info: Feel welcome to do a Walk-up or send a /Tell to me in-game, especially if you see my RP tag on. I afk frequently, so if I miss a message, please send a /Tell. My DMs are open on Discord and Bluesky. You may ask for my Mare code.I am looking to make new friends and forge RP connections. I'm also interested in finding new friends to do PvE content outside of any sort of RP arrangements, so if you happen to have an interest in late-game content such as Treasure Hunts, or even Raiding, please let me know!I thrive with stories that have some form of substance. Whether that be antagonistic character dynamics, or forming friendships. As long as there's some sort of reason that brings the characters together, I'll be happy! I am always looking to expand my network of RP connections, so please reach out! Fair warning that I -will- be likely to try and connect ongoing RP stories together—there is a high chance I will ask to introduce you to other people & their characters. I'm big on interconnected storylines, and dislike exclusivity/bubble RP.Disclaimer time! I have a busy schedule, and do not always want to RP. I may just wish to play the game and/or enjoy my time doing something else. I don't say this to dissuade any interest! Just to be upfront that if you're looking for a single RP partner, I'm the wrong girl for you.
RP Preferences: I am comfortable with both short-form writing, rapid-fire dialogue, and a healthy mix of brief descriptive emotes and dialogue—to the occasional para RP. I prefer to RP in-game, I do not do well with Discord-based RP. Vastly prefer RP with little to no planning such as Walk-up RP as opposed to a finely planned RP scene. I'm still open to discussing RP ideas ahead of writing a scene together! I aim to have a persistent and "canon" story from start-to-finish for my character's roleplay experience—finish being when I stop playing them, or they perish! So if we're roleplaying, expect me to take it as canon for the character's lore!Conflict & Antagonism RP: I consent to most forms of antagonism. Please communicate any extreme themes with me before acting them out ICly. I consent to most form of character injuries; short-term & long-term depending upon circumstances—please discuss severe injuries with me OOCly beforehand. I am currently not accepting character death, though this may be open to change in the character's future.Conflict can take many forms, from a simple argument over what to get for dinner to a longstanding feud with mature and adult themes peppering the narrative. Actions will have consequences. My Khetya is as vulnerable as the next person, and may sustain injuries or develop traumas. Please understand that if you are approaching me to roleplay out antagonistic (especially darker) themes, she may be left with longstanding and/or irreparable damage. If you choose to engage with her in this way, it may run the risk of her not willingly wishing to engage with your character.Romance RP & ERP: I consent to characters having romantic and/or adult-themed interest in Khetya. I will not tolerate anyone blending IC // OOC boundaries with my character—that goes doubly so for NSFW themes involving my character.I do not often write ERP, although I am open to it. Both Khetya and myself respond better to spending the time to get to know a character as opposed to rushing into a romance. Bear in mind that Khetya may not always reciprocate or respond positively to advances made towards her; she may not even recognize them!
